Leka is a municipality in Nord-Trøndelag county, Norway. It is part of the Namdalen region. Leka is the northernmost municipality in Trøndelag. The island has been inhabited for at least 10,000 years, as evidenced by cave drawings in the Solsem section of the island( Wiki). I together with my geophysical colleagues had a trip to the island for looking at some geological localities. Leka's geology is very special. The red serpentine mountains has build a spectacular and unique landscape. In the region you can find various rock types. Leka steinsenter (Leka stone centre) has an exhibition of rocks and minerals from all over the world, but with the main emphasis in Leka and Norway. Maps and excursion guides to the geology trail can be bought here. It is really recommended to visit this place. It has to be mentioned that in 2011 Leka was voted the Norwegian Geological National Monument because of its unique geology.
